How Excess Sugar Can Easily Cause Heart Blockage

In recent times, many people suffer from diseases related to excess sugar in the blood. Diabetes takes a lead in this row. Having excess sugar in your blood simply indicates the inability of your body to metabolize the sugar you consume from foods. This situation can be lethal if not properly managed. Periodically, a new negative effect of excess sugar is been discovered. It was discovered recently that excess sugars can lead to various heart disorders, which includes heart blockage.

How excess sugar cause heart blockage

If weight gain and diabetes is not a good reason to stay away from sugar, maybe heart blockage is. It may be hard to cut sugar out completely since most of the foods that we eat contain some form of it, but cutting back as far as possible may mean a lot for your health in the long run.

What Is Heart Blockage?

Heart blockage is a condition when the blood vessels that carries blood to the heart become blocked. This means that the heart muscle will not receive the blood and oxygen it needs, which can eventually cause heart attack. If this blockage forms in a blood vessel that supplies the brain, a stroke can occur.

Another name for a heart blockage is coronary artery disease or atherosclerosis. Diet plays a major role in the development and significance of this condition.

Relationship between excess sugar and heart blockage

1. Weight Gain

Coronary artery disease occurs when plaques builds up along the walls of the blood vessels, hardening and narrowing them. This can block the flow of blood to the heart or brain, or pieces of plaque can break off and create a blockage. This plaque build-up is caused by high cholesterol levels, which is caused by eating too much sugar.

Another common side effect (and also a tell-tale sign of bad cholesterol) of too much sugar, is weight gain.

2. High Triglycerides

Triglycerides are a certain type of fat found in the bloodstream that are created from extra calories consumed, that are not used right away for energy. High levels of triglycerides raise the risk of heart disease and plaque buildup. A diet filled with sugar and carbs can significantly raise your triglyceride levels.

Try to cut down on all forms of sugar (both refined and natural) in order to get your triglyceride levels as normal as possible.
